Donna Simpson Dabbs

Donna Simpson Dabbs, 70, of Saucier, passed away peacefully, on August 24, 2013. Donna was born October 13, 1942 in Gulfport, MS to the late William R. Simpson and Alice Benefield Simpson.
She graduated from Gulfport High School in 1960 and Phillips Business College and resided on the Gulf Coast most of her life.
Donna retired from the Bell Telephone System and was currently serving as the financial secretary at Woolmarket Baptist Church. She was ""hooked"" on crochet and spent many hours making baby afghans to give to new mothers.
Donna enjoyed the outdoors and helping her husband on their farm in Saucier where they operated Dabbs Christmas Tree Farm for over twenty years until Hurricane Katrina destroyed the trees. They continued to operate a small u-pick blueberry business. She liked being behind the scene watching her husband interact with customers.
Donna fought a hard fight with cancer. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Memorial Hospital and especially the crew at Southern Care Hospice.
Donna is survived by her husband of 33 years, Charlie Thomas Dabbs of Saucier, MS; her sons, Shawn D. Coppock (Kim) of New Braunsfel, TX, Michael P. McCollister of Raymond, MS, Thomas Daniel Dabbs (Teresa) of Saucier; her daughter, Donna E. Brown (Andy) of Gulfport; her brothers, William P. Simpson (Bobbie Jean) of Ponce Inlet, FL, Robert R. Simpson (Mary Anne) of Long Beach; her sister, Dorothy Jermyn (Jim) of Pearland, TX; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 2:00 pm, with a visitation one hour prior, at Woolmarket Baptist Church on Lorraine Road. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, you may make donations in her name to the Woolmarket Baptist Church Building Fund.
