In Loving Memory of Donald Wilford Moran, Sr.

“Racehorse”

Donald Wilford Moran, Sr., of Kiln, MS, was called to his eternal home on June 19, 2025, passing peacefully in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. His departure leaves a legacy of warmth, strength, and unwavering devotion that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Affectionately known as “Racehorse,” Donald was an avid outdoorsman with a true zest for life. He found great joy in training racehorses, hunting deer, and spending time in nature. He was a steadfast provider and a pillar of strength for his family. Donald led by example, offering wisdom, love, and unwavering support. His hardworking spirit and generous heart touched countless lives. His memory will live on in the stories, traditions, and values he passed down.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Oswald Moran, Sr. and Mabel Moran; his parents-in-law, James and Luvy Cuevas; his brother, Jervis Moran; his sister, Elsie May Hoffman; infant brother, Oliver Moran; son, Donald “Don” Moran, Jr.; and son-in-law, John Denius.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 63 years, Gaynell Cuevas Moran; daughters, Angela Moran and Rachel Denius; and six grandchildren: Donald “Donny” Moran III (Tammy), Mindy Wells (Jason), Jessica Suit (Brandon), Courtney Murphy (Nick), Katie Beech, and Karlie Denius.

He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren: Dylan Moran, Kaylie Beech, Raeleigh Wells, Madison Moran, Ella Wells, Harrison Murphy, Maggie Murphy, John Luke Moran, Vivienne Suit, Charlie Suit, and baby Suit. His sister, Shirley Oliver, and four brothers: Oswald “Sonny” Moran, Jr., Edgar “Pete” Moran, Eddie (Joyce) Moran, and Clyde Moran, Sr., also survive him, as well as two godchildren: Janie Cuevas Foshee (Craig) and Dana Spiers (Hank); honorary family member, Becky Lee Moran Turner; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends from near and far.

The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 23, 2025, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Pass Christian with the funeral service following at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at Alphonse Malley Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Angela Moran, Rachel Denius, Brandon Suit, Jacob White, Lance Drame, Tracey Ainsworth, Stevie Peterson, and Conner Peterson.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Enhabit Hospice for their compassion and unwavering dedication in caring for their beloved patriarch.
