Donald Sharpe

February 3, 2018 — February 3, 2018

Donald Malcome Sharpe of Covington, Louisiana, fulfilled his life commitment of 65 years by going to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 3, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Sharpe Giametta; father, Columbus J. Sharpe; brothers, Gary Lyn and Kenneth Ray Sharpe; and step-brother, Christopher Giametta.
He is survived by his step-father, Joseph A. Giametta; his sister, Laura Ann McCamley (Dan); his brothers, C. Martin Sharpe (Cathy), Terry M. Sharpe (Doris), Fred D. Sharpe (Barbara), Ronald A. Sharpe (Paula); step-sister, Theresa Giametta Tolson (Michael); step-brothers, Tony Giametta (Janet), Joe Giametta, Jr. (Susan); his loving family in Christ, C.J., Shawn, Michael, Luke, Scott and Ashleigh Dunaway.
Donald was a wonderful blessing to friends and family, and loved his Church Family, First Baptist of Biloxi so very much.
Donald was born with Cerebral Palsy and with an inability to hear or speak and was not expected to live past the age of twelve... well fifty three years later, he has not let what most would call a disability ever keep him down.  His vibrant personality and his fluency and knowledge of American Sign Language drew him to become involved and supportive in the de l'Epee Deaf Center in Gulfport and the Greater Gulf Coast Deaf Community.
He is graduated from Mississippi School for the Deaf (1973) and was elected Mr. MSD. Donald's interests in service for the community motivated his involvement in many service organizations and especially the Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs. Donald had work tenure at Howard Memorial, Gulfport Memorial, Veterans Administration Hospitals, and the Biloxi Regional Medical Center.
Donald has made Covington, LA his home for the last several years and has received loving assistance from the caring staff of Forest Manor. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Biloxi, where he served his Lord for over 26 years. He considered it a privilege and honor to serve his Lord in the Deaf Ministry, volunteering to serve in varied mission endeavors and outreach ministries.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Donald's name and in honor of his life to First Baptist Church of Biloxi, 1560 Popps Ferry Road, Biloxi, MS 39532.
