Donald Raymond Huckabay, Chief Petty Officer, U.S. Navy, retired, age 78, of Gulfport, passed away on June 3, 2013 in Biloxi.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Bonnie S. Huckabay of Gulfport; three children, Rebecca S. Jackson, Donald R. Huckabay, II, and Clay Huckabay, all of Gulfport; a sister, Willie Mae Schwartz; ten grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
He was a devoted, patriotic, and highly decorated military professional. Chief Petty Officer Huckabay served in the U.S. Navy for thirty years before his retirement. He served one tour during the Korean War and three tours during the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Purple Heart with one Gold Star among other decorations.
Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 2019 22nd St, Gulfport, MS 39501 or Alzheimers Foundation of South Mississippi, 14175 Country Hills Dr, Gulfport, MS 39503.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 1:30 PM at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
