Master Chief Dolores Mary Tanner, U.S. Navy, Retired, age 83, of Diamondhead, passed away on June 6, 2015. Dolores was best known by her nickname ""Dee"".
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Patrick Tanner and Julia DeSimone Tanner, brother Henry V. Tanner, and her loving dog of 17 years, Nikki.
Survivors include her niece's family: Denise, Bob, Robert and Vincent Fontenelli, and her nephew's family: James, Karen, Alison, Andrew, and Jacob Tanner.
Dee was born in Bronx, NY, where she grew up. She attended art school in New York City and later began a life long career with the United States Navy where she attained the rank of Master Chief as an Illustrator and Draftsman. Originally stationed in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, she moved on to Omaha, NB, and finally settled in New Orleans, LA. Upon retirement she found the lovely community of Diamondhead, MS where she lived for the past 25 years. She was an active member and a leader of the Lion's Club of Diamondhead for many years. She found true happiness in giving gifts and helping those in need.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 PM on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, and will be immediately followed by memorial service at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 9113 Kiln DeLisle Road, Pass Christian.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Diamondhead Lions Club, 9512 Kale St., Diamondhead, MS 39525.
