Dimple Linda Parish

d. September 6, 2015

Dimple Linda Robinson Parish, age 69, of Gulfport, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 6, 2015, after post-operative complications at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. Dimple was born and grew up in the small town of Houston, Texas, until her relocation to Gulfport in 2011.
Dimple graduated from John H Reagan High School in Houston in 1964. During her time in high school she was actively involved in sports and was the captain of the girls' basketball and volleyball teams. Shortly after graduation, Dimple started her professional career in the insurance industry as a typist and ended her career forty four years later as a senior executive assistant. Putting in an honest day's work as well as being a dependable employee were very important traits Dimple exhibited on a daily basis. Anyone that had the great pleasure of dealing with her will tell you that she was consistently professional and nice. Dimple worked for Prudential, Ranger Insurance, Highlands Insurance and retired from US Risk Insurance. During her post-retirement years, Dimple worked in the family business, Burton CPA Firm, located in Gulfport.
Dimple is preceded in death by her parents Mark Twain and Kathleen Nancy Clevenger Robinson as well as the love of her life and husband Leon Jack Parish.
She is survived by one brother Richard (Nita) Robinson of Stockton, CA and one sister Patricia (Preston) Smith of Cleveland, TX. Dimple also stepped into the role of second mother for her two nieces, Michelle (Josh) Allgood of Houston, TX and Melissa (Dan) Burton of Gulfport, MS, as well as her nephew Michael Smith of Cleveland, TX. She was a loving and caring grandmother to her great nieces and nephews - Hannah, Sarah, Hope, Faith, Caleb, and Grace Allgood; Allison and Austin Smith; and Kayla, Abby, Madilyn(Dickinson) and William Burton.
Dimple leaves behind many friends in Houston and Gulfport as she treated anyone that she met as family. She had the rare ability to be a good listener and always had a smile. In Dimple's spare time (which was not much) she greatly enjoyed reading, watching movies, working at the office, visiting with the ladies at Starbucks and Long Horn Steakhouse and playing with her grandchildren. Her daily absence has created a large void and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
The family wants to extend a special thanks to the Ochsner ICU nurses (Rosemarie, Holly, Jay, and Ashley) as well as Dr Parrino and his staff who worked tirelessly night and day to help Dimple. The family also wants to specifically acknowledge Helena Bennett whose help and support was invaluable. Also, words of prayer from the Ochsner Chaplin Services as well as long-time family friend Vicki Harcrow provided much comfort to the family during these very difficult days.
A memorial gathering will be held on September 9th from 5 to 7 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME located at 11280 Three Rivers Rd in Gulfport. A visitation service will be held on September 11th from 5 to 8 pm at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home located at 13102 North Freeway in Houston with funeral and interment services to follow on September 12th at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, Dimple would prefer donations be made for the betterment of the community. Donations in her honor are gratefully appreciated to St James Catholic Elementary School (Art and/or Library Department) at 603 West Ave, Gulfport, MS 39507 or to The Sunshine Kids Foundation for Children with Cancer at 2814 Virginia St, Houston, TX 77098.
