Derrell Dwayne Jordan, age 58, a.k.a. “Honee” to his wife, He passed away on December 7, 2019, in Ocean Springs, MS.
Derrell moved back to the Mississippi coast upon retirement from his military service as an airborne army ranger, having attained the rank of Sergeant First Class. In the Army he was a sharpshooter and served overseas in several engagements, including Grenada where he parachuted at the lowest altitude on record.
His Service career translated into his home life. He was a fierce defender of family and friends. He took many under his wing over the years and it was his joy having them in his life. He was a Mason and a Shriner. His smile was infectious and his laugh even more so; which drew people to himself and to his home.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Louise Jordan; his sister, Claudette Thomas;
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Heather Jordan, whom he has shared his life with since 1993. “Derrell was a wonderful, beautiful person with the biggest heart and joyful soul. He was my rock, my soul mate and he lit up my life with his beautiful smile and warm loving embrace. I was blessed to have him as my husband and my best friend”; Also left behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Emily Jordan; his loving mother Ameenah Saahir; his brothers, Will Thomas, Curley Ausmer, Jeff Ausmer, Dean Ausmer, and his brother in love, heart & ’‘partner in crime” Jonathan Love; brother in law, Ryan Stevenson (Sara); his father and mother in law Danny and Suzie Manuel; Uncle Oscar Joseph; cousins, Mona (Mike), Binz; many aunts, nieces and nephews, and his fur babies Gracie, Cholie and Precious.
Derrell loved watching his beloved New England Patriots, he loved to sing karaoke and go out to eat with family and friends. He was known as “The Master Griller” and loved to host family and friends at home playing dominoes and Yahtzee. He was always the life of the party and could light up the darkest room with his beautiful smile.

We could not have made it the past year and a half without the love of our family and friends by our side.
