Deborah Cooper McKay, age 55, of Gulfport, peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2012, surrounded by her family, following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. McKay was born in Jackson, MS, to Johnny H. and Anne Vandevender Cooper. She attended Gulfport East High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. She was a former employee of BellSouth and had also worked in property management in various cities. She was a member of Handsboro United Methodist Church in Gulfport.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. McKay and her son, Joshua D. Luke.
She is survived by her daughter, Amber M. Timms (Michael) of Dallas, GA; her fianceÌ, Douglas P. Ela of Coden, AL; her parents, Johnny H. and Anne V. Cooper of Gulfport; siblings, Johnny M. Cooper of Gulfport, and Shirley C. Hardaman (Jim) of Gulfport; grandchildren, Zachary Brown, Lauren Anne Brown, Cameron Luke, Jordan Roberts, and Austin Hall; along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, at 9:00 a.m. Friends may visit one hour prior to services.
Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of South MS, www.hssm.org.
