Dean Allyn Long

July 18, 1954 — April 25, 2016

""The Man, the Myth, The Legend,"" otherwise known as Dean Allyn Long passed away on Monday, April 25 in Gulfport, MS with his daughters by his side at the early age of 61.
Dean, the son of Arthur and E. Lucy Long, was born on July 18, 1954 in Hornell, NY. He graduated from Canaseraga Central School with the class of '72 and went on to play basketball via scholarship at Olean Business Institute while obtaining an associate's degree in Accounting. Dean went on to become an accomplished Auditor for the Pennsylvania Department of Auditor General and audited several local school districts within surrounding areas. Even though accounting was his career field, he considered himself a master craftsman and took great pride in his creations. He had many hobbies but overall, athletics and mentoring children were his passion! Through countless years of coaching, umpiring, refereeing, and volunteering, he has left a legacy with many people that will last a lifetime!
Dean's pride and joy has always been his girls! He is survived by his two daughters Danielle (Quentin) Bradt and Angela (Michael) Copponi; and his four granddaughters, Dakoda Bradt, Madison Copponi, Makena Bradt, and Chelsea Copponi. Even though his family is small, he has touched the lives of so many!
It is not the end yet a new beginning! To honor the man all held so dear, a memorial softball game and picnic is being planned for early June of 2016 and will be held in Allegany, NY, (more information to follow). In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org. The family would like to thank Dr. Olivia Hightower and the staff at Cannon Hospice for all of their love and care!
RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport is serving the family. An online guestbook may be signed and tributes offered at www.riemannfamily.com.
