David Earl Russell, 63, of Gulfport, MS, Passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Oscar L. Russell.
David is survived by his wife, Kim Bailey Russel; mother, Helen Jackson Russell; daughters, Jessica Renee Russell and Kristina Janelle Bradley and her husband Phillip Bradley; 2 grandchildren, Alaina Bradley and Walter David Bradley; his sister, Vickie Russell Beggs; niece, Emily Elizabeth Beggs.
David Worked for and retired from the Biloxi Public Schools while also building and running his own construction/maintenance company. Even in retirement, he went out of his way to help others find work, while also working for the Boys and Girls Club. David was a valued member of the community who contributed his time and skills in any way that was needed. He volunteered at churches, by helping seniors with projects around their homes. He was well known in the community for his kindness, honesty, and dry humor.
Having never met a stranger, he was a hard worker and a loyal friend to everyone he knew. Everywhere one went, people knew of him. Even now, as an organ donor, David is still present with us and will live forever in our hearts. His life will be remembered as his father's is remembered.
David adored his family, especially his two grandchildren. You would always see him, Walter, and his constant companion, Oscar (his pug named after his dad) following along behind him. The pride and joy he radiated as he took on his new role as "Paw- Paw" could be felt every time he told stories about Walter and Alaina.
The family is thankful for everyone who has surrounded them with prayers and uplifting thoughts during this time. A special "Thank You" to the staff of Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, as well and the First Baptist Churches of Gulfport and Biloxi and the Bayou View Church in Gulfport.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. An online obituary may be viewed and condolences and photos shared at
