David Edward Rimanich

David Edward Rimanich, Sr., went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2013 at the age of 87.
He was born on August 17, 1925 in Chicago, IL to the late Matthew Frank ""Mike"" Rimanich and Katherine Elizabeth Pavich Rimanich. David enlisted in the United States Army in December of 1943 and served his country during World War II and the Korean War. During his time in the Army he landed on Normandy Beach the day after D-Day, and helped liberate a Jewish Concentration Camp in Germany.
After his military career, he met Lonnie L. Shaw and they were married March 29, 1947 in Wiggins, MS. David has been a long time resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He worked as a X-Ray and Lab tech for various companies, ultimately going to work at Keesler Air Force Base until he retired in 2000. He had attended Bel-Aire Baptist Church.
David was a very faithful and devoted husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lonnie Shaw Rimanich; and his parents.
Survivors include his son, David Edward Rimanich, Jr. (Anna) of Gulfport ; his daughter, Karen Rimanich of Gulfport; his grandchildren, Hillary Rimanich of Gulfport, Daniel Dix (Cara)of Mobile, Stephen Dix of Fredericksburg, VA, Katie Dix of Gulfport, and Jacob Dix of Gulfport; and his great grandchild, Mckinley Dix of Mobile.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:30 am at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment with military honors will be held at Steep Hollow Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
