David C. Murphy

David Charles Murphy, age 73, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023, in Biloxi.

David was a native of Jacksonville, FL and a resident of Biloxi, MS.  He received a master’s in education from the University of Southern Mississippi.  David was an employee of the Biloxi School System and worked at Jeff Davis Elementary School where his whole teaching career was with the 4^th and 5^th graders.

David loved all types of sports and he really enjoyed teaching and spending time with fellow educators at Jeff Davis Elementary.  He was a member of First Baptist church in Biloxi.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Hardy Murphy, and Ernestine P. Murphy; and two aunts, Virginia Harmeyer, and Betty Wheeler.  He is survived by his sister, Charlene Murphy Wilson (Wilburn) of Cookeville, TN; and his cousins, Dr. Ed Wheeler (Ann), Harry Wheeler, Larry Wheeler, Barbara E. Harmeyer (Larry E. Merenstein), Kathy (Don) Roush and Frances Harmeyer (Charles Schall).

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 19, 2023, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, MS, with the visitation for family and friends starting at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park.
