David Milton Thomas, age 70 of D’Iberville, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Madeline Thomas.

David is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Kay Thomas; his sons, Timothy (Carol) Thomas, Bobby (Helen) Thomas and Billy Thomas; his grandchildren, Laura Thomas, Benjamin Thomas, Hannah Thomas, and Lillian Thomas; his sisters, Georgia Talkington, Virginia Thomas and Louise (Trelle) Sterling; his brother, Brian (Bonnie) Thomas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Tucson, Arizona, David spent his early years traveling the world as the son of a United States Air Force serviceman. Although he was raised primarily in Crisfield, Maryland, where he graduated from high school, his childhood also took him to the Philippines, Germany, Florida, Utah, Minnesota, New York, Delaware, and eventually Mississippi, which he proudly called home for the rest of his life.

After graduating from high school, David followed in his father's footsteps by enlisting in the United States Air Force. During his first assignment in Minnesota, he met the love of his life, Kay. Their chance meeting blossomed into a beautiful marriage that spanned 50 wonderful years, filled with love, devotion, and countless cherished memories.

Following their marriage, David and Kay were stationed in New York before moving to Delaware, where they lived for four years until David honorably completed his military service. They then settled on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where David initially worked as a ranch hand for his father-in-law. Determined to build a lasting career, he worked a variety of jobs while attending Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, earning an associate's degree in Mechanics. After graduating, he began a rewarding career at the Biloxi VA Medical Center, where he faithfully served veterans for 30 years until his retirement.

David had a lifelong passion for chess and proudly competed on several chess teams over the years. He was an avid fan of science fiction, history, and war films, and he appreciated many genres of music. Above all else, David treasured his family. Some of his happiest moments were spent with his children and especially his grandchildren during weekly family nights filled with home-cooked meals, games, laughter, and time together.

One of David's prized possessions was his canary yellow 1970 Mach 1 Mustang, a car he deeply loved and took great pride in.

David was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd., West Jackson County, with visitation for friends to gather beginning at 9:30 am. Graveside service with military honors will follow at 12:30 pm at Biloxi National Cemetery.
