David Farley Hurlbert, PHD, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born April 5, 1958, in Gulfport, MS to Jane R. Hurlbert and Gerald Hurlbert. He attended the Gulf Coast Military Academy and graduated from Biloxi High School.
David was preceded in death by his mom, Jane Roberts Hurlbert.
He is survived by his loving, devoted wife, Donna; his sons, Matthias (Miriam) Hurlbert of Auerbach, Germany, and David F. Hurlbert, II, of Roswell, GA; his step-daughter, Lyndsay (Mike) Lamont of Dayton, FL; one grandson, Levi Hurlbert of Auerbach, Germany; his father and step-mom, Gerald and Wanda Hurlbert of Biloxi; his devoted and caring sister, Stacie Fayard of Gulfport; brother, Pat (Melann) Machado; sister, Janie Jenkins of Morgan City, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
David was a United States Army veteran, serving in Grafenworhr, Germany, and Fort Hood, TX. He received a bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Connecticut; BS in Sociology, MS from Southern University, and a PHD from Tulane University. Prior to his illness, David was a program specialist for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
David will be greatly missed and remembered for his sharp wit, laughter and his love of wood work.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport.
