David Anthony DeMetz, born on August 7, 1987, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025. He was a cherished son and a beloved friend, remembered for his vibrant spirit and zest for life.

David’s professional journey began after graduated from Long Beach High School. He continued his education at the MGCCC - Perkinston Campus for two years before earning his degree from Strayer University in Virginia. His career was marked by a significant tenure as a waiter for 15 years, a role through which he developed a deep passion for service. Following his time in the hospitality industry, he served as a loan officer for the Small Business Administration within the government, where he contributed to the economic growth of many small businesses.

Music was an integral part of David’s life. He was a talented drummer and proudly held the position of drum major during his senior year at Long Beach High School. His dedication to music was further evident through his involvement in the Indoor Drum Line for three years, a testament to his commitment and passion for rhythm. Alongside music, David had a profound love for traveling, which allowed him to explore various cultures and landscapes across the globe.

David's enthusiasm extended beyond his professional and creative endeavors; he had a great affection for animals and found joy in spending time with friends. Although he was born in Long Beach, Mississippi and a resident of Gulfport, he was proud to have also lived in Alabama, Washington, and Georgia, and he took pride in these experiences that shaped his perspectives and memories.

David is survived by his loving parents, Fred and Susan DeMetz. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Marion Engle, and Fred and Betty DeMetz.

The impact David had on those around him will be cherished and remembered as a beacon of joy and inspiration. His legacy will continue to resonate through the hearts of all who knew him.

A visitation will be held Thursday, October 23, 2025, beginning at 1:00 pm at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS. A service will follow at 2:00 pm. Interment will be at Saucier Cemetery.
