Gautier

David Michael Barfield, 73, passed away at his Gautier, MS home on November 12, 2022, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Plus Syndrome. He was the son of the late Gene and Ann Barfield of Newnan, GA.

Mike was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. He loved life and being with friends and family. His many entertaining and animated stories will truly be missed. He was the reigning Hambone champion among his friends and known for his humorous words of wisdom, affectionately called “Barfieldisms”.

Mike attended Headland High School in East Point, GA, then went on to graduate from Georgia State University. He enjoyed a successful career with Delta Airlines as a Station Manager in several cities including Atlanta, New York, Ontario (CA), Los Angeles and Las Vegas. He retired and lived in Las Vegas until he met his wife Leslie in 2002 and relocated to Biloxi, MS. They were married in 2006 and lived a happy life at a home he loved in Gautier, MS, for 16 years. Mike was an outdoor guy and loved living on the water, boating, football (Roll Tide), Atlanta Braves, grilling on the deck and listening to classic country music. He treasured his time with family and friends, and his energy and zest for life will truly be missed. Mike will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and loyal friend.

Mike is survived by his wife, Leslie; sister, Tyra Elliott (Bill); children, Lori Burke (Matt) and Natalie Barfield; bonus children, Nick Dubuisson (Cara), Kelsey Whicker (Nick) and Ceci Dubuisson; grandchildren, Shea Barfield, Cody Luke, Brody and Peyton Burke, Ellis, Sellers and Bridge Dubuisson, Jude, Hannah and (arriving shortly) Baby Whicker, and godson, Alex Stewart.
