Dannie Gene Walker, age 71 of Gulfport, passed away on Saturday, 15, 2026.

He was preceded in death by father, Arzan Eugen Walker and his brother, Jeff Walker.

Dannie is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Julie Owens Walker; his children, Kameron Walker and Molly (Scotty) Holliman; his grandchildren, Maria Walker, Gaig Holliman and Ella Kayte Holliman and his mother, Eloise Walker.

Born in Germany and raised in Meridian, Dannie graduated from high school before beginning a life of service and dedication. After high school, he proudly joined the United States Air Force, where he honorably served for three years as an air traffic controller. Following his military service, Dannie continued his career as an air traffic controller, dedicating another 30 years to the profession before retiring in 2019.

Dannie met the love of his life, Julie, in Selma, Alabama. Their love grew into a beautiful marriage and a partnership that lasted 50 wonderful years. Shortly after marrying in Selma, the couple moved to Indiana, where they lived for three years before making their home along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where they remained for the rest of their lives.

Dannie enjoyed many things throughout his life, especially playing golf. His love for the game was evident in his two hole-in-ones, both of which earned recognition in the newspaper. He also loved traveling, hiking, and taking trips with those he loved. Above all, Dannie cherished his family and treasured the time he spent with them, especially his grandchildren.

Dannie was deeply loved by his family and friends. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

In accordance with Dannie’s wishes, no services will be held at this time.
