Daniel Robert Dauner, November 19, 2025.
Daniel Robert Dauner was born in New Orleans. He was educated at St Catherine's School in Metairie, Jesuit High-school New Orleans and Stuart Preparatory school where he graduated. He went on to Delgado College where he excelled in engine building and he received his associates degree in Automotive Sciences.
Dan married Deborah Woodman in Ithaca New York and soon after they made Pass Christian their permanent home. Dan worked in various occupations yet he always returned to his dream job of driving big rigs. Dan enjoyed the solitude of trucking and created life long memories with his four sons as each would enthusiastically get their turn to ride along with their Dad. Dan fulfilled his dream when he became the proprietor of his own Peterbilt which he had painted bright yellow with the large fleur de'lis of his Logo. All of his Grandchildren loved to ride in Pawpaw’s truck.
Dan hauled his final load of 2025 for Acme Truck line of Gretna Louisiana. While Dan truly relished his truck, his life was all about his family. He patiently taught all four of his sons auto mechanics. Although he was often on the road he would always find a way to make it to each and every event that his sons and grandchildren participated in. He took great pride in all of their accomplishments, never missing a moment. Each son and later grandchild held in Pawpaw’s arms took to his chest immediately as their favorite place to nap. His best days were those with his sons and families together that always ended with him hugging his wife Deborah and stating: "We've got great kids and amazing grandchildren".
Dan was a kind man who was at the ready to help those he knew that asked for his assistance especially if it was an automotive issue that he could work on with them. A handshake and a smile were his charge. Dan was a fun guy. His joking form of comedy always lightened the mood for those around him. He laughingly threw out one liners, enticing those he loved into his Dad joke-filled world. Laughter as he would say was his best medicine. The best way to remember Dan is to keep the Dad jokes going.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents Rene' and Elizabeth Dauner of Metairie, Louisiana.
Daniel Dauner leaves behind to cherish his memory the love of his life, Deborah, his wife of nearly 40 years. He was extremely proud of his Sons and their partners. Dia'Mond Woodman with Desiree, Dakoda Dauner with Nick Pena, Dustin Dauner, and Durand Dauner with Katie. His deeply adored Grandchildren, Rowen, Raelynn, Willow and Oliver. A sister, an aunt, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
