Dana Lynn Ducote, born on October 22, 1957, departed this life on August 3, 2025. Her memory is cherished by many, as she leaves behind a legacy enriched by her loving family and friends.
Dana graduated from Hammond High School in 1975 and continued her education at Southeastern Louisiana University. Her love for learning and her dedication to her studies were evident throughout her life. Dana was not only a devoted scholar but also a passionate fan and supporter of all SLU and LSU sports teams, embracing the joy and camaraderie that comes with being part of the community.
She is survived by her brother, Rick White, of Amite, LA; her grandchildren, Michael and Alexander Ribando of Hammond, LA, Benjamin and Miley Grace Smith; her son-in-law, Joshua Smith, of Picayune; her great-grandchild, Faith Marie Ribando, of Hammond, LA. Dana also leaves behind her aunt and uncle, Pat White Mattox and Hugh Mattox, of Mobile, AL; her uncle Richard Edward Burton, of Hammond; aunts Marlene Burton Gobin of Hammond and Nadine Burton Legarde of Amite; and numerous loving cousins, all of whom will carry her spirit forward.
Dana was preceded in death by her daughters, Stacey Renee Sentell Ribando of Hammond, LA, and Lindsey Ryan Sentell Smith of Picayune, MS; her grandson, Richard Michael Sentell of Slidell, LA; her husband, Richard Ducote, Jr., of Slidell; her parents, Dewitt John "D.J." and Evelyn Burton White, of Hammond, LA; her older sister, Sheryl Anne White; and her younger brother, Michael Burton White, who tragically passed away in infancy.
Plans for a memorial service will be forthcoming. In this time of sorrow, we take solace in the thought that Dana is now with her loved ones, resting in peace. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
