Dale Anthony Bilbo, 78, of Lakeshore, died July 26, 2025 at home surrounded by his large, loving family and wonderful friends.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, he served in Vietnam with the 4th US Army Division. After returning from Vietnam, Dale was a fisherman and carpenter in the Gulf Coast and New Orleans area for much of his adult life. He was a father, grandfather, and friend who generously opened his heart, home, and kitchen to anyone in need. As a beloved member of the Lakeshore community, he and his wife Cheryl began a retirement and care facility for Veterans in their home in 1998, and continued until April of this year. With a strong sense of dedication and commitment to duty, he started “Vans for Vets” which aimed at providing transportation assistance to veterans in the community. He loved cooking for fund-raisers with the local #77 VFW post where he was the Senior Vice Commander. Dale enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with grandkids, and rocking on the front porch in the company of those he loved.
