Curtis Levon Spiers, Sr., age 77, a resident of St. Martin, passed away on April 14, 2016, in Ocean Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Pearlie Graham Spiers; a brother, Dwight Spiers; and a granddaughter, Stacey Cook.
Curtis is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nonnie Spiers; his children, Sharon (Kenny) Dunaway of St. Martin, Sandra (Rick) Lalley of Vancleave, and Curtis (Vicki) Spears, Jr., also of St. Martin; his sister, Laverne Kahl of Ramsey Springs, MS; his grandchildren, Sean Lalley, Renee Bridges, Curtis Spiers, III, and Meaghan Russell; and his great grandchildren, Remington Lalley, Gavin Cook, Owen Bridges, Lorelai Russell, Fynn Spiers, and Jonah Russell.
Curtis will be remembered as someone who worked very hard. He was employed with Fletcher Construction for 25 years as a superintendent. He was very keen when it came down to proper construction techniques. He was an avid fox hunter, rising early in the morning to run the dogs and drinking coffee with the others. Much of his life was dedicated to raising hunting dogs, many of whom he named after country songs. He had a pen(s) at his home where tended to their every need and trained them to be their best.
There will be a visitation on Monday, April 18, 2016, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd., at the corner of Washington Ave., from 12:00pm until 2:00pm. A graveside service will follow at 3:00pm in Kahl-Spiers Cemetery.
