Curtis Harrell Smith

Curtis Harrell Smith, 72, of Gulfport, MS died December 4, 2023, in Austin, TX.  He received his bachelor’s degree in electrical and mechanical engineering from Mississippi State University.  He went on to work at Siemens Westinghouse for 39 years as a Senior VP, Siemens Power Generations Division, SE.  During his time with Siemens, he received numerous record-breaking performance and leadership awards.

As a graduate of Mississippi State, he loved rooting for his Bulldogs. He enjoyed rebuilding his classic Pontiac GTO and working on anything that needed to be fixed. He was a member of the Foundry Church of Winter Springs FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard O. and Clarice LaFare Smith and sister, Anita Wilkerson.

Survivors include his children, Christina Smith, Landon Smith, and wife Hannah, Karsen Smith, Lacey Flores and husband Daniel, Johnathan Smith and wife Rebecca, and Aimee Smith; sisters, Rita Duffus and husband Don, Kimberly Ballard; brother, Stanley Smith, and wife Elaine; grandchildren, Alyssa, Caitlyn, Ryan, Sofia, Bridget, Greyson, Presley, and Blake; and his beloved nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Monday, December 11, 2023, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church with his cousin, Jacob Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery (Smith Cemetery Road, Perkinston, MS).

Curtis was always willing to help. He was extremely witty, charismatic and loved to joke with all those around him. He was a supportive and loyal father for all of his six children. He was very much loved by all his family, friends, and colleagues. He will be deeply missed.
