Courtney Maureen Smith

Courtney Maureen Smith, 23, of Pass Christian, MS, danced and ran her way into Heaven on Wednesday, March 27, surrounded by her Buddy Sports friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Thomas Wayne and Emily Jo Favre and Dot Lumpkin Favre; her great-grandparents Forrest and Bea Favre, and James and Verna Dubuisson; her beloved uncle Robert "Flounder" Favre; as well as her paternal grandparents Charles and Lillie Darlene Smith.

She is survived by her parents Charles M. "Charlie" Smith III and Debra Favre Smith of Pass Christian; her sister Anissa J. Smith of Barcelona, Spain; her brother Chase (Kayrin) Smith of Kiln; her nephew Kole; nieces Kaylin and Kaysn Smith; Aunt Pamela "Mimi" Favre; and her godmother Emily Snell. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She loved spending time with her best friends Rachel Crapps and Madison Shelby of Long Beach and Emily Crawford, Analise St. Paul, and Ashtyn Rogers of Pass Christian as well as the staff and campers of Camp Awesome, Camp Able, Buddy Sports, Leaders of her "Village", Honey LeBlanc and Morgin Monti, and Milo.

We would like to thank REM Beachside Retreat Day Center: Sherry, Lisa, Darlene, Amy, James, April, and staff and friends for loving Courtney like family.

If you ever met Courtney, you knew her for life. You got to hear her say, "I need a hug!" and you got one in return. She loved BIG and unconditionally. She had a keen sense of humor, an infectious smile, and was a true social butterfly. Courtney was always surrounded by love. She loved school at Pass Christian School District, attending Camp Able, all Buddy Sports events, Camp Awesome, and her Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church family. She could spot an attractive man or baby from a mile away and would quickly share a hug.

Halloween was Courtney's favorite time of year as she would hug her way through Buccaneer State Park. She had a soft spot for firemen and dogs. She loved music, especially the band Queen, and was always dancing and the life of any party.

To quote our friend, Jeff Clark, "Courtney was a rock star, a force of nature, a hurricane, and a gentle soul- sometimes all at once. We are better people for the time we spent with her. She was larger than life.
