Cornelia """"Nicky"""" Seat Barrentine, age 79, born in Greenwood, MS, died Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009 in Pass Christian.
She was the daughter of Ward Freeman Seat and Cornelia Garrott Seat of Greenwood, MS. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1947 and Mississippi State University in 1955 with a BS in Physics & Math. She was a member of the Kappa Mu Epsilon math honor society and the Chi Omega sorority. Nicky taught math at MSU and Coast Episcopal High School. She retired from General Electric Company in 1987 as a mathematician modeling operational efficiency and safety for GE nuclear power plants. She was a member of the Pass Christian Yacht Club, the Pass Christian Isles Golf Club, and Trinity Episcopal Church.
Nicky is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Ward Seat Barrentine, and a grandson, Brent Forbes Barrentine.
She is survived by her husband, William M. Barrentine, Pass Christian; son, William M. Barrentine, Jr., Germantown, TN; daughter, Cornelia """"Neal"""" Barrentine Clapper, Zurich, Switzerland; son, Thomas Charles Barrentine, Long Beach, MS; grandson, Sean Garrott Clapper, Zurich, Switzerland; granddaughter, Cornelia """"Paige"""" Clapper, Zurich, Switzerland; and grandson, Blake Garrott Barrentine, Germantown, TN.
Nicky was much loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 6, 2009 at First United Methodist Church, 2nd Street, Pass Christian. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am in the church.
Interment will be in Live Oak Cemetery.
