Connie Jean Barrett Jenkins, age 87, of Pass Christian, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Connie was born April 26, 1936, in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Delor and Anne Barrett. She is preceded in death by her husband, Homer Jenkins, of 64 years, her parents, and her brother, Francis “Dee” Barrett.
Connie attended the University of Colorado, where she met her husband, Homer, and they married August 7, 1955. Together, they moved to Pass Christian and opened Southern Printing & Silk screening in 1972. She retired in 2005, leaving five of her sons to run the family business.
Connie devoted her life to serving her family, community, and church. She enjoyed sports just as much as her eight sons. She was most proud of being a mother to eight boys, but she was also an avid Saints fan, former President of the Pass Christian Rotary Club, former President of the Pass Christian School Board, and a recipient of Outstanding Citizen of the Year award in 2007. Connie was most notably a devout catholic. She devoted her life to the church by attending daily, being a Eucharistic Minister, and a Lector. Connie also enjoyed baking in her spare time, especially for family, and she was exceptional at it. Her legacy leave behind numerous craved desserts.
She is survived by her sons, Perry (Sandi), Mark (Mandy), Brent (Janet), Loni (Julie), Dane (Renee), Jamie (Heather), Rod (Rose), and Ryan (Meaghan); her grandchildren, Jaime (John), Destin, Chad, Leah, Ashly )Ray), Lane, Jessi (Brent), Rachel, Amanda (Greg), Joey (Megan), Tyler (Michelle), Brett, Lauren (Mark), Brook (Michael), Randi, Jett, Madison, Logan, Breelie, Cooper, Cameron and Kinsey; her great-grandchildren, Cole, Mason, Haleigh, Morgan, Madelyn, Saylor, Jeremy, Elliot, Jack, Payton, Annie, Paislee, Rylin, Brynn, Taylor, Barrett, Maddin, Banks, Davis, and expecting another great-grandson in October; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends, especially Bob and Linda Zellar.
The family would like to thank her caregivers, Nurse Practitioner Onellis Stanford, Mary Lett, and Brenda Haynes, and especially Cierra Ratliff and Hannah Dagorrett, who have been like family to her; a special thanks to Canon Hospice for taking great care of her in her final resting days. The family would also like to thank Julie Wittmann Guneau and Father Paddy Mockler.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 12, 2023, from 10 – 11 am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Pass Christian and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am in the church followed by a celebration of life at Holy Family Parish Hall.
