Connie Elizabeth Collins

Connie Elizabeth Collins, 78, of Gulfport, who passes away Wednesday, May 17, 2023.

Connie was born the youngest of 5 children in Gulfport, Mississippi. She attended Pineville Elementary and graduated from Harrison Central High School in 1963. Connie grew up around her sister Barbara’s children as if they were her own siblings. They were a very close-knit family with deep roots. Those deep roots contributed to Connie’s passion for genealogy. She spent much of her time researching and discovering valuable family information spanning hundreds of years.

Ms. Collins was preceded in death by her parents Rachel and James “Jim” Collins, sisters Barbara Collins Sellier, Alice Mae Collins, Pat Collins Rau, and brother Jimmie Collins. She is survived by her daughters Lisa (Chris) Morgan, Rhonda (Clayton) Klchosky, four grandchildren Heather Morgan, Hollie (Caden) Grover, Aaron Morgan and Morgan Klchosky, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Connie was known for her ability to achieve any task and troubleshoot any problem. The entire family knew if she was involved the task would get done! Connie had many hobbies and talents. Among them were crocheting, sewing, and jigsaw puzzles. She loved classic rock music. Her favorite groups included The Eagles and Creedence Clear Water Revival. She could often be seen quietly tapping a hand on her leg to one of their classic tunes.

Connie loved her family and enjoyed spending time at family gatherings, enjoying good food and good company. No gathering was complete without “Aunt” Connie’s potato salad or Nana’s cake. She loved to carry on the traditions of her family and instilled this into her children. Connie loved the outdoors. She loved to go fishing and going on family camping trips. Connie loved her grandchildren dearly. She rarely missed a school activity or sporting event. She loved to be involved in all aspects of their lives. Connie will be truly missed by all those who knew her.

A celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, 10:00am-11:00 at Riemann Funeral Home at 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, MS 39503.
