Colonel Frances Ann Beaton, USAF, Ret., 87, passed away Monday, October 31, 2016 in Biloxi.
Col. Beaton was a native of Franklin, Massachusetts. She retired after 30 years as a Colonel from the U.S. Air Force and was a decorated Vietnam veteran. She was a certified flight nurse and a MedEvac nurse. Among her decorations were the Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Longevity Service Award with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.
Col. Beaton was the Chief Operating Room Nurse at Keesler Air Force Base. She was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church for 30 years, active in St. Vincent de Paul Society, and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Beaton; two brothers; and two sisters. Col. Beaton is survived by her long time caregivers, Carl McCardle, and Marcia and Neil Mullaney, all of Biloxi; longtime friend, Rev. Terry Scheider; three nephews, Andrew, Shannon, and David Beaton; and sister-in-law, Doris Beaton, of Bremerton, WA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:45 a.m., Friday, November 4, 2016 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, where friends may visit after 9:00 a.m.
Interment with full military honors will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
