Clifton "Phillip" Rusche, 79, of Wiggins, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his home the morning of August 7, 2026, surrounded by family.

Phillip was born on April 24, 1947, in Lexington, Mississippi, to Joe and Fay Rusche. He lived a life defined by integrity, hard work, quiet strength, and an unwavering love for his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Audrey Rusche; his daughters, Shelley Kay Williams (Michael), Teresa Rusche (Milton), and Sarah Rolfvondenbaumen (Theodore). In addition to his three loving daughters, his lap will be greatly missed by his furry "daughter," Maddie, his faithful 15-year-old companion.

Phillip was “G Daddy” to Ashley Austin (Seth), Hannah Fiala (Jordan), Raychele Bowling, Valerie Bowling, Evelyn Rolfvondenbaumen, and Luna Rolfvondenbaumen. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Jaxon Austin, Emmett Austin, and Olivia Fiala, who brought him joy.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Fay Rusche, and his brother, Paul Rusche.

Phillip served his country in the 101st Airborne Division as a Paratrooper from 1966 to 1969. He dedicated 30 years to BellSouth before retiring, then retired from the Department of Defense after years of faithful service. For many years, Phillip moonlighted at the family-owned small engine repair shop in Vicksburg, MS. Phillip earned the respect of those around him through his exceptional work ethic, attention to detail, and eagerness to teach others the right way to do a job. He was a trusted mentor and friend.

Outside of work, Phillip found his greatest happiness spending time outdoors with his family. Weekends were often spent metal detecting, fishing, riding motorcycles, or driving his Jeep along the river. After settling in Wiggins, he devoted more time to the creative hobbies he loved, including leatherworking and welding unique sculptures.

Phillip will be remembered for his quick wit and sharp sense of humor, and the gentle heart he shared with those fortunate enough to know him. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, a proud veteran, and a loyal friend.

In accordance with Phillip's wishes, a private celebration of life will be held for his immediate family.

Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
