Claire Coyle

August 25, 1953 — May 5, 2019

Claire Plaisance Coyle, resident of Diamondhead, MS, died peacefully on May 5, 2019, at the age of 65 in her home surrounded by her family and close friends after a courageous battle fighting pancreatic cancer for 1 ½ years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 22 years Randall Coyle; her stepson Christopher Coyle, wife Amanda and grandchildren Wyatt and Gracie Coyle of Edmond, OK; sister Diana Young and husband David of Boutte, LA; sister Marilyn Caro and husband John of LaCombe, LA; brother Harold Plaisance and wife Linda of Lafitte, LA; brother Kenneth Plaisance and wife Jeannie of Metairie, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends from all over the world.
She is preceded in death by her parents Esmo Joseph Plaisance and Lucy Breaux Plaisance of Boutte, LA.
She was born Claire Marie Plaisance on August 25, 1953 in New Orleans, LA and was raised in Boutte, LA.  She graduated from Hahnville High School in 1971.  She attended Delgado College and Holy Cross College and received an associate degree in business.
Claire had a vivacious personality and was the type of person you wanted to get to know the first time you met her.  She was a strong, determined and independent woman.  She was bright and free spirited and had strong convictions and always wanted to be in charge. She was very compassionate and loving yet at the same time she was very opinionated and you knew where you stood with her at all times.  Claire was a devoted Catholic and had a strong faith.
Her work experience began as soon as she finished high school working several different jobs.  In 1988, she began working for Sigma Coatings USA located in Harvey LA.  She started with the company as secretary to the president but it didn't take long for her to advance.  In a few years, she was promoted to Marketing Manager and a few years later she was named the company's first Human Resource Manager.  After several years in that position, she was transferred to Houston, TX in 1996 where she held the positions of National Distribution Manager and then Regional Sales Representative.  She retired from Sigma Coatings in 2004 and enjoyed retirement life until her death.
After moving to Houston, TX, the big city environment wasn't exactly her style.  So she and her husband fulfilled one of her life long dreams and moved to Galveston TX to live on the beach. She spent 16 wonderful years with her husband living the island life style of beach living.  In 2016, Claire and her husband decided to move to Diamondhead MS to enjoy the rest of their retirement life.  There she met so many wonderful people which became a big part of her life.
Claire had two obsessions in her life - hats and sandals.  Her closet is filled with hats and sandals, almost one for each day of the year - maybe that is a little exaggeration.  Every time we went to mass at Most Holy Trinity, she was the only person ever wearing a hat.  She also loved candles as can be seen in our home; we usually have a candle burning in almost every room of the house. Claire loved to travel around the country, especially by car.  Her favorite vacation destination is undoubtedly Las Vegas but also enjoyed going to the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Sedona and Disney World.
Claire enjoyed playing card games, especially bridge, poker and Pedro. She loved playing scrabble and other games with friends and family and thoroughly enjoyed beating them. She was a dog lover and had several pets during the course of her life but her most loved dog was Samantha, a miniature Yorkie that she had for 9 years; she loved her like her own child.
She loved spending time with family and friends, but most of all, she loved her role as Nana and Nanikins.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, Wyatt and Gracie; both were the loves of her life.
The family would like to thank Encompass Health, especially her hospice nurse, Denise Saba and Debbie Thomas, for the excellent compassionate care that they gave to Claire.
A celebration of Claire's life will take place at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 9062 Kiln DeLisle Rd., Pass Christian, MS, on Monday May 13, 2019 at 11 am.  Visitation will be from 10 - 11 am in the church.
