Obituary

Christopher Terrol Rainey, of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away on October 5, 2026, at the age of 62. He was born on June 6, 1964, in Starkville, Mississippi.

Chris will be remembered as a man who found joy in the things he loved most. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and weightlifting, and he took special pride in watching his sons play high school and college football. More than anything, he most enjoyed the time he spent with his wife and sons, and those moments with his family will remain among the memories most cherished by those who knew and loved him.

Chris served his country in the Marine Corps, a part of his life that reflected his strength and dedication. He continued to serve his community when he began his work as a firefighter with Gulfport Fire Department. Chris put in the work required to become a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. This was an accomplishment he and his family was very proud of obtaining. He loved his work with animals and continued to serve his community through this work.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Paula Rainey, with whom he shared 36 years of marriage. He also leaves behind his sons, Ryan Rainey and his wife, Morgan, of Tullahoma, Tennessee, and Aaron Rainey and his wife, Madison, of Clinton, Mississippi. Chris was a proud grandfather to Davis Rainey and Maggie Rainey, and he is also survived by his brother, David Rainey and his wife, Diane, of Long Beach, Mississippi; his sister, Janet Irwin and her husband, Billy, of St. Augustine, Florida; and his mother-in-law, Judy Alliston.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady “Terry” Rainey and Jeffrey “Dee” Rainey, and by his father-in-law, John Clark Alliston III.

A gathering to honor Chris will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at The Barn, 1460 Wire Road W, Perkinston, Mississippi 39573, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM.

Christopher Terrol Rainey will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for the devotion he gave to his family, the simple pleasures he enjoyed, and the lasting place he holds in the hearts of those who loved him.
