Christopher J. Martino

Christopher “Chris” James Martino, age 64, of Biloxi, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

Chris was born on February 8, 1962, in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he remained a lifelong resident. He was a 1980 graduate of Notre Dame High School. His passion for football earned him a full scholarship to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Perkinston Campus, and he was also recruited by Delta State University. Chris was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and worked at the Port of Gulfport for 20 years.

A true Mississippi Gulf Coast native, Chris was a hardworking, blue-collar man who believed in honest work, loyalty, and enjoying life’s simple pleasures. When he wasn’t working, you could often find him hunting and fishing with his buddies, drinking a cold beer, swapping stories, and making memories that will live on forever.

Chris loved grilling and cooking for friends and family and was always happiest when everyone was gathered together. He lived life to the fullest and was truly the life of the party—his laughter, presence, and bone-breaking bear hugs could light up any room. Many will remember Chris most for those unforgettable hugs that made you feel instantly loved.

Above all else, Chris cherished time spent with his beloved ray of sunshine, Logan, who brought him endless joy and pride. His love for family ran deep, and those who knew him will forever remember his warmth, generosity, and larger-than-life spirit.

Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Genevieve “Jenny” Marie Hungerford Martino, and his grandparents, John E. and Carrie Fountain Hungerford.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Dana “Hicks” Martino; his children, Austin Martino and Shawn Chambers; his grandchild, Logan Martino; his father, Donald E. “Donnie” Martino, Sr.; his siblings, Donna (Kevin) Cruso, Richie (Valerie) Martino, Paula (John) Wright, Steve (Cheryl) Martino, and Robbie (Michelle) Martino; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to caregivers Lezzetta White and Bertha Keys, along with Vital Caring Hospice, for their compassion and care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026, at, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 10446 Lemoyne Blvd, D'Iberville, MS 39540. Inurnment will follow at the Stella Maris Grotto and Columbarium, located on church grounds. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the D’Iberville Community Center, 10452 Lamey Bridge Rd, D'Iberville, MS 39540.
