Christine Jones

Mrs. Christine Jones, age 98, was born in Yazoo County, MS on May 25, 1918, daughter of Julia and Ivy Daniel Malone. She entered heavens gates on March 13, 2017. Having been raised on the family farm where life was hard and having lived through the Great Depression where life was even harder, Christine knew the value of a dollar and the importance of being frugal. Her life was never easy nor extravagant, yet Christine was rich in family and friends whom she shared her life. She married the love of her life, Claud Jones, in 1935. The couple settled in Gulfport, MS in the early 1950's where they raised their three children.
Christine was a dedicated and hard worker. She worked for Popp's Ferry Elementary School Cafeteria for many years and held the position as the cafeteria manager. She left her job to care for her husband until his death in 1981. Christine returned to work for the Biloxi school system as an acting cafeteria manager for all the schools in the district until she retired. Christine married Ross Jones in 1987 and moved to his home in Benton, MS where she lived for 24 years. After her husband's death in 2008 she decided to move back to the Coast. She moved in 2011 and made her home with her son, Randy and his wife, Ruby.
Mrs. Christine Jones had an unwavering faith in God. She was a supportive member of Central Missionary Baptist Church in Gulfport for many decades. She was a devoted and loving mother and was proud of her family. Her life was full of hope, happiness, and love, through the good times and the bad, throughout her long and loving life. Her quick wit, generous laugh and brilliant smile will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julia and Ivy Daniel Malone; husband, Claude Jones; second husband, Ross Jones; two brothers, Ewell Oliver (Taylor), Ivy Daniel Malone, Jr.; two sisters, Batrice Porter, Mildred Ables; son-in-law, Ken Kirchoff; grandson, Timothy Daniel Jones; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Left to treasure her memory are her sons, Tommy Jones (Mary Beth), Randy Jones (Ruby Roselyn) of Biloxi; daughter, Claudine Kirchoff of Rosemount, MN; step-sons, Billy Ross (Linda) of Marrero, LA, Gerald (Billie O'Neil) of Madison, MS; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Camelia Hospice for the care given to their beloved mother, Christine.
Family and friends will gather at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd at Washington Ave Ocean Springs, on March 20, 2017 from 9:30 to 11 AM. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow with procession to Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport, MS.
