Christine Segrest Evans

Christine Segrest Evans departed this life on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at age 95. Mrs. Evans was born in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, the only child of Guy and Lela Segrest on April 15, 1917. She married the love of her life John Murle (Bill) Evans and they enjoyed 52 years together.
Called ""Maw Maw"" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was lovingly known by her family and friends as ""Miss Christine."" For over 50 years Mrs. Evans owned and operated a beauty shop in her home in Hazlehurst. She was the oldest living member of the Hazlehurst United Methodist Church. In August 2009 when her health began to decline, she moved to Gulfport to be cared for by her daughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, and son-in-law, Dr. Ray Bishop.
She is survived by her daughters, Judith Evans Bishop and Cathy Evans Crush (Harvey); grandchildren - Regina Bishop Stewart (Brandon), David Gregory Bishop (Niki), and Lyndsey McDaniel Imbert (Shane); great grandchildren - Timothy Bishop Brown, Lucy Christine Stewart, Lawrence Evans Bishop, Olivia Cotton Bishop, and Shae Elise Imbert.
Graveside services will be held in Hazlehurst, Mississippi on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 11 AM in the Hazlehurst Cemetery conducted by RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hazlehurst United Methodist Church, 127 Caldwell Drive, Hazlehurst, Mississippi 39083.
