Chester Yates

Chester Arthur Yates, age 98 of Pass Christian, MS passed away on July 1, 2018.
He was a native of West Virginia.
Chester was preceded in death by his older brother, Leonard Yates; younger brother, Martin Dahmer; older sister, Stella Blackhurst; younger sister, Thelma Gray Quick; youngest sister, Lucille Farren.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Catherine Yates; daughter, Rae Ann Murphy (John); son, Chester Yates (Maria); sister, Helen Musser (Marshall); grandchildren, John Murphy, Justin Murphy, Ryan Murphy, Christian Murphy, and Anna Marie Yates.
Chester served in the U.S. Navy for 8 years during WWII.  He was on the USS Upshur and rose to the level of Chief Petty Officer.  He was self-employed as a businessman with a foreign car repair service in New York City, a new car salesman for Toyota in New York, and for Oldsmobile in West Virginia.
He was an avid golfer and loved square dancing and woodworking.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Sunday, July 8, 2018 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Rd., Long Beach, MS.  The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 9, 2018 at First United Methodist Church of Long Beach, 208 Pine Street, Long Beach, MS.  Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
