Charles Vertis ""Sonny"" Woodcock, age 76, passed away November 26, 2012. He was born July 5, 1936 to Wiley and Viola Woodcock of Gulfport, MS.
At 17 years of age, he went into the military and at age 20 married his childhood sweetheart, Patricia A. Koenenn of Kiln, MS. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year in Wasilla, AK.
Sonny is a retired US Army Veteran that served proudly for over 21 years, with 2 tours of duty served in Korea and 1 tour in Viet Nam. Upon retiring in 1975, the Woodcock's returned to their family in home in Hancock County.
Sonny is survived by his wife Patricia A. Woodcock; three daughters, Debra Woodcock Cwiklik of Kiln, Dina McFerrin of South Carolina, and Donna Berdine of Kiln; eight grandchildren, Lyndsie Cwiklik of Kiln, Lacie Cwiklik Lloyd (Johan) of Wasilla, AK, Sunni J. Carrington of Biloxi, Summer Moody (Robert) of Carriere, Dylan, Sarah, and Savanah Lyons, and Victoria Williams all of Kiln; four great grandchildren, Kaeden, Payton, Lily and Maggie.
Sonny is also survived by a brother Donald Roy Woodcock of Kiln and one sister, Pearl Boydston of Texas.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 5pm-8pm, at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 9113 Kiln DeLisle Road, Pass Christian, MS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Friday, November 30, 2012 at Annunciation Catholic Church, Kiln, MS.
Interment will be in Alphonse Malley Memorial Cemetery.
