Charles J. "Joe" Tucker

d. August 24, 2016

(A LIFE WELL LIVED)
Charles J. Tucker was driven, determined, stubborn, and complexed. Yet, he had something special about him.
The third born to Geneva and Jesse Tucker. He grew up just outside of Gainesville, Florida.
He joined the military at a young age in November of 1959. He left North Florida to see the World as a Navy Seabee.
That he did with stops in Kingsville, TX, Little Creek, VA, Sanford, FL, Providence, RI, Cape Kennedy, FL, and Gulfport, MS.
He served two tours in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. He was stationed near Danang, which was one of the hot spots during that time of the War. He received a commendation for bravery beyond the call of duty during his first tour of Vietnam for saving men in his battalion by using a piece of heavy equipment to cover them and rescue them from enemy fire. He also received four Gold Stripes which represented 16 years of good behavior.
EO 1, C.J. Tucker retired from the Navy Seabees on January 27, 1978 after 22 years of service to our great Nation, the United States of America.
An outstanding softball pitcher. He was one of the top fast-pitch military pitchers in the Summer of 1971 while he was stationed at Patrick Air Force Base in Satellite Beach, Florida. He joined the likes of Bill Booth and Bill Penny as one of the top military pitchers to participate in the World Softball Tournament hosted that Summer at Patrick Air Force Base. He as well pitched against the World renown King & his Court led by the Legendary Pitcher, Eddie Feiner.
Joe (as he was known by his friends and family) became a Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather over the course of his life. Family became imperative to him. His Love for his Family was evident during his entire life, but especially at the end of his life.
With his wife of 35 years Virginia Wynne Tucker they raised three children, Steve, Jeff, and Bonnie.
He as well was a loving Uncle and Brother. It is well known that the Tucker's may not always agree but if you mess with one you mess with them all.
Joe Tucker lived a complete life that allowed him to see and experience the World. His life was well lived and complete.
As he leaves us now, a part of him will stay with everyone he touched in life forevermore. So we bid you farewell CJT, but you will live on within us all.....
Congratulations on a Life Well Lived! Godspeed.....
