Charles A. Russ, III, age 86, passed away Friday, October 7, 2016 in Gulfport. He graduated from Long Beach High School and from Perkinston Junior College where he played football; he then went on to graduate from Mississippi State University. He was an owner of the Saw Mill in Pearlington, served on the Board of Supervisors for Hancock County, President of United Fund for Hancock County. He was a member of the American Quarter Horses Association for 35 years. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict and then reserves for 6 years. He was a member of Old Town Presbyterian Church in Bay St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Lesley Russ; parents, Charles Albert Russ, II and Ollie Murphy Russ; daughter, Ellen Ann Russ; sister, Evelyn Russ Ward.
He is survived by daughter, Katherine Lois Russ; son, Charles Lesley Russ; 2 sisters, Sally R. Boulay and Shannon R. Kidd; brother, Jimmy G. Russ; special caregiver, Diana Sharp; many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00PM Sunday, October 9, 2016 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. A visitation will begin at 2:00PM until service time. A burial will follow at Courtney Cemetery in Long Beach.
