Charles "Larry" Reddoch passed away peacefully at his home in Gulfport, Mississippi on July 3, 2024, surrounded by his wife and family. Larry was born on Easter Sunday, April 5, 1942, in Laurel, Mississippi. He is survived by his loving wife, Bill Knight Reddoch; his children, Michele Reddoch Shoemaker (Pat) of Petal, Mississippi and Christie Reddoch Sheffield (Mike) of Madison, Mississippi; siblings, Patsy Reddoch Hughes (Dr. Verlon), Dr. Jerry Reddoch of Waynesboro, Mississippi, Rhonda Reddoch Jones (Clayton) of Madison, Mississippi, Ronald "Sonny" Reddoch (Nola) of Florence, Mississippi; grandchildren, Will Shoemaker, Drew Shoemaker, Charlie Shoemaker, Alex Walters, Mallory Sheffield, Abby Sheffield, and Cameron Sheffield; great grandchildren, Patrick Shoemaker and Laiton Shoemaker; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Preston Reddoch and Lucile Wolgamott Reddoch; his sister, Betty Boutwell, and two nieces, Lisa Hughes Headrick and Lynn Hughes Sorey.
Larry honorably served his country in the Air National Guard Reserves as a Second-Class Airman, 186th Combat Support Squadron. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Laurel, Mississippi from the cradle roll. He graduated from George S. Gardiner High School in 1960 and graduated as a Pharmacist at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama in 1969. During his professional journey, Larry worked as a pharmacist at Eckerd Drugs before branching out to establish his own ventures. His diverse career led him into the oil and gas industry, trucking business, car stereo enterprises (Hi Fi Cruisin in Laurel and Empress Audio in Gulfport), a used car dealer, as well as owning All American Title Loan and Cash Advance in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Larry was an entrepreneur by heart, but his love for fishing is what led him and his wife, Bill, to the Gulf Coast where they have lived for the past 27 years. Larry was a man of many interests. He found happiness in the great outdoors, fishing for Speckled Trout, duck hunting, friendly card games, being a part of his Supper Club and Poker Group, discussing fishing anywhere and everywhere, visiting with friends old and new, unwinding with Western movies and NASCAR races, and tending to his satsuma trees in his backyard.
Everyone loved Larry and his gigantic heart. He wore his BIG smile proudly and never met a stranger. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, but especially his loving wife of 57 years. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome and was a selfless man always lending a helping hand. He will always be remembered for his joke telling and funny stories of way back when.
A visitation service to honor Larry's life will be held on July 7th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Riemann Family Funeral Home in Gulfport on Three Rivers Road. A second visitation will be held on July 8th in Laurel, MS at First Baptist Church, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM with the funeral service starting at 3:30 PM. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens, East of Laurel.
In closing, there are a few famous lines Larry always used: "Parenting does not come with a book!", "Keep doing the best you can", "Don't worry about anything- it's all gonna be okay!!!", "What-cha cooking?", and "Over and out".
May he rest in peace knowing his legacy will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of crossing paths with this remarkable man.
