Charles J. Porche, Sr., passed away peacefully at his home in Diamondhead on February 21, 2016, surrounded by his family and loving wife after battling cancer. He was born in New Orleans on December 29, 1929.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Scuddy and Anna Mae Hicks Porche; his brothers, Curtis and Ralph Porche; and his sister, Rosemary Vidacovich.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jeanette Porche; their three children, Jeanne Goff (David) of Pass Christian, Julie Wall (Steve) of Madisonville, and Charles Porche, Jr. (Karen) of New Orleans; his grandchildren, Jenna Plaisance, Celeste Plaisance, Marni Wall Demello, Stephen Charles Wall, and Sophie Mae Wall; and his sister in law, Beverly Porche.
He was a graduate of S.J. Peters High School in New Orleans and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Bennoin . He was employed at Woodward Wight & Co. for 30 years, retiring as Vice President. After retirement, he went on to manage Harry's Ace Hardware locations in the New Orleans area for 12 years.
He and Jeanette retired to Diamondhead, MS, where they resided for 21 years. He was a dedicated family man and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. His passions were gardening, golf, and cheering for the LSU Tigers. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and loving husband. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 26th at Most Holy Trinity Church in Pass Christian, MS. RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Kiln-Delisle Rd., Pass Christian is serving the family.
