Charles Lawrence Kenney, 69, a longtime resident of Gulfport passed away Thursday May 3, 2018.
Born on May 9, 1948 in Boston, MA, he was the youngest of 7 children. He graduated from Hyde Park High School in Massachusetts in 1967 and joined the U.S. Army after graduating where he served for 6 years as an E-5. He was a proud Vietnam veteran who loved his country. After leaving the Army he returned to Massachusetts and worked at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution- Cedar Junction for 30 years before retiring and moving to Mississippi. He enjoyed spending time and telling stories with the pride of his life, his grandson, Christopher, his family, other loved ones and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John, Sr. and Laura Miller Kenney; brothers, Michael Kenney and Thomas Athridge; sisters, Laura Fleming; brother-in-laws, Bob Desrosiers and Al DelCupulo; and numerous loved ones.
He is survived by his daughters, Tina Kenney and Beth Desper; mother of his children, Evelyn Raymond; grandson, Christopher Kenney (Tina); sisters, Katherine DelCupulo and Anne Desrosiers; brother, John Kenney Jr; son-in-law, Doug Byers (Beth); as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, friends to whom he loved dearly.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ocean Springs Hospital SICU for their extraordinary care given during his illness.
