Charles ""Chuck"" Duane Chambers, died at home on Saturday, September 20, 2014. He was preceded in death by his father, C.C. Chambers, Jr. and his sister, Sylvia Hanshew. He left behind his mother, Peggy; wife, April; children, Duane and Megan Moraski; and grandchildren, Johnathan and Thomas Moraski, and Lillian Kate Chambers to mourn his loss.
Chuck was born on May, 15, 1952, in West Virginia. His family soon returned to Mississippi where he grew up. In 1972, he moved to Washington, D.C. to work for the FBI. It was there that, in 1973, he met his future wife, April Lee Neff. They returned to Gulfport in 1974 to marry, and Chuck went to work at his father's business, C&S Carpets. He subsequently founded Chuck's Carpets in Long Beach, which he led until his retirement in 2009.
Chuck loved football. He was an avid fan of the Saints, or any team led by a Manning or Brett Favre.
He was generous with anyone he encountered, from a homeless man living under a bridge to his family and employees. He provided for all of his family's needs; however, he believed that the word ""need"" did not belong in any sentence containing the words Hobby Lobby or Michaels.
Chuck was also a great teacher. He taught his family and friends many things about home and automotive repair. April didn't realize at how much she would come to appreciate those lessons until he became unable to handle such tasks. April, Duane, and Megan are proud graduates of the Charles D. Chambers School of Driving. Thanks to those people who made it possible for Chuck to battle the Alzheimer's disease at home until his passing. Jamie Cospelich supported Mr. Chuck many days and has become part of the family. The Harrison Central Elementary family also offered support in so many ways. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Gentiva Hospice employees for giving Chuck the best care possible.
If you would like to honor Chuck's memory, please consider supporting Team Chambers at the Walk to End Alzheimer's on November 15th at the Biloxi Town Green.
