Cangelosi
October 7, 1932 – March 18, 2026
Charles Joseph Cangelosi passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home in Diamondhead, MS, on March 18, 2026. He was 93 years old. Charles was born in New Orleans, LA on October 7, 1932. He spent his adult life as a resident of Metairie, LA and Diamondhead, MS.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Dahlia Cangelosi, his parents Sam Cangelosi and Sarah Accardo Cangelosi, and his sisters Marie Abney and Mildred Nillen. He is the loving and cherished father of Catherine Cangelosi Neupert (husband: Jeff), Michael Cangelosi, and Daniel Cangelosi. He is the treasured grandfather of Derek Neupert (wife: Holly), and Andrew Neupert. He is the loving and sweet great-grandfather to Charlotte and Audrey Neupert. Charles was always joyful surrounded by his family and was a man of deep faith.
Charles graduated from St. Paul’s High School in Covington and was a captain of the varsity football team his senior year. He also served his country in the United States Army 21st Infantry in the Korean War Conflict and was honorably discharged. Charles and his wife Dahlia were owners and operators of Coiffures by Angelo in Old Metairie for 30 years. Charles loved growing roses at his Metairie home. He was a member of the Metropolitan Area Rose Society. At the Fourth Annual Rose Show his roses earned him the title of King and Queen of the Show. He was also a member of the Italian-American Marching Club. Following his retirement, he became active in volunteer work in his church and community. Charles was a Eucharistic minister for Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church and St. William’s Catholic Church. He also served on the following ministries of MHT Catholic Church: Pastoral Council, Finance Committee, and Men’s Club. In addition, he volunteered at the Hancock County Food Pantry. He was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 2880.
Charles was an avid tennis player and golfer, proudly achieving a hole- in-one at the age of 84. He also enjoyed running in the Crescent City Classic, painting, watching football, and spending time with his family.
His family wishes to express its sincere thanks to Notre Dame Hospice for their compassionate care. In addition, the family expresses its heartfelt appreciation to Mary Beth Baker for her support, care and loving assistance to our dear Dad. Our gratitude is also poured out to Pat Kesler for her care and friendship and most recently to Rachel Whitfield for her tender care and comfort. These ladies were truly a blessing. The family is also grateful to Fr. Paddy Mockler for his visits.
In lieu of flowers, Masses or donations in Charles’ name may be made to Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pass Christian, MS.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 9:30 - 10:30 am at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 9036 Kiln DeLisle Road, Pass Christian. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am in the church. A reception will follow Mass in the Parish Hall next to the church. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
The Riemann Family Funeral Home, Pass Christian, is serving the family.
