Obituary

Charles Harry Brann, Jr. was born on September 4, 1943, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He lived a full life marked by dedication to his family, career, and interests. Charles passed away on April 18, 2026, in Gulfport, Mississippi, peacefully with his wife by his side.

Charles graduated from Ponchatoula High School in the class of 1961. After High School, he served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1969, demonstrating his commitment to his country.  He earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of New Orleans in 1970.

In the early 1980s, Charlie started a career in computers. Over the years, he advanced in his field and ended his career as a computer Systems Engineer with Lockheed Martin at the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans. This work reflected his talent and dedication to technology.

Charles enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially on the golf course. He was an avid golfer who appreciated the companionship and friendly competition of a small group of loyal friends. He also loved fishing in the Bay of St. Louis and the nearby marshes, activities that brought him great joy.

Charlie is remembered by his loving wife of 15 years, Deborah Davis Brann of Diamondhead. He is survived by his children, Christopher Brann of Denver, Colorado, and Ryan Brann, along with Ryan’s wife Mimi, of Slidell, Louisiana. He is also survived by his stepsons, Jay Rachal of Gonzales, Louisiana, and Jeff Rachal of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

He leaves behind a cherished sibling, Iris Brann Reed, and her husband Jim of Pendleton, South Carolina. His grandchildren, Scott Rachal of Baton Rouge, Mia Rachal of Gonzalez, Chloe Rachal of Prairieville, and Penelope Brann of Slidell, who was truly the light of his life, carry forward his legacy. Charles also had a special bond with his aunt, Willie Burns of Ponchatoula, and his cousin, Mercedes Coluda of Violet, Louisiana.

Charlie’s parents, Charles Harry Brann, Sr. and Iris Burns Brann, as well as his brother Frank Duncan Brann, preceded him in death.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at Memorial Hospital who worked diligently on his behalf. Their care was deeply appreciated during his final days.

Visitation will be held at St Thomas Episcopal Church, located at 5303 Diamondhead Circle in Diamondhead, Mississippi, on April 27, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will follow at the same church from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Avenue, Biloxi, Mississippi, beginning at 2:30 p.m. on the same day.

Charles Harry Brann, Jr. will be remembered for his steady character, his devotion to family, and the simple joys he treasured.
