Mr. Cecil H. Scoggins, age 61, of Woolmarket passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 in the presence of his loving family after a courageous 13 month battle with cancer.
Cecil was born on April 27, 1954 in Jackson, MS and moved to the Coast in 1956. He was the son of Max and Dolly Scoggins of Mt. Olive, MS formerly of Biloxi.
He worked at Lighthouse Chevron Service Station and was currently employed with the Civil Engineer Department at the Naval Seabee base in Gulfport. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the Mississippi Air National Guard, 209th Civil Engineer Squadron in August 2011. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina he was activated for 90 days to aide in the recovery of the coast.
Cecil was dedicated to his family and known for his great personality and unique laugh. He was a generous and loving person, a devoted NASCAR fan, enjoyed watching his grandsons play ball and loved his custom 79' Ford pickup. Cecil will be greatly missed.
His is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Kathy Aylor Scoggins; his daughter, Kimberly Brown (Brandon); parents, Max and Dolly Scoggins; grandsons, Finley and Grayson Brown; sisters, Faye Broussard (Ross) and Lisa Scoggins; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be at 10:00AM on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. A visitation will be held Friday, April 8, 2016 from 5:00PM-8:00PM at the funeral home. A burial will be held at Floral Hills Cemetery following the service.
