Cathy Rau Whisenant, a beloved figure in her community and a cherished member of her family, passed away on December 23, 2025, in Long Beach, Mississippi, at the age of 66. Born on August 6, 1959, in Massachusetts, Cathy lived a life full of love, dedication, and remarkable accomplishments.
Throughout her life, Cathy held the role of a devoted homemaker, focusing her energies on raising her beloved children. Her commitment to her family was paralleled by her entrepreneurial spirit as the owner of Cathy's Cleaning, where she made a significant impact on many local businesses with her hard work and personal touch. Her career was a testament to her strong work ethic and her desire to connect with and serve her community.
Cathy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her children, Norman Craig Whisenant and Brandy Leig Jarrell (Kenny), along with her grandchildren, Haleigh Farve (Shea) and Aliyah Johnson. Her brothers, Mike Rau and Stephen Rau, and her sister, Susan Greyson, will forever hold her memory dear, as will her numerous nieces, nephews, and large extended family who were touched by her kindness.
In the years following the passing of her husband, Norman Wade Whisenant, in 2006, Cathy discovered a profound love for pitbulls, finding joy and companionship in their loyalty. Additionally, she had a fervent appreciation for flowers, which added beauty to her life and was a reflection of her vibrant personality.
Cathy's warmth, compassion, and joyous spirit will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire her family and friends. Her memory will forever be cherished, serving as a reminder of the profound impact one person can have on the lives of others.
