Catherine Williford Zeloy, age 85, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015.
She was born on January 22, 1930 to James Everette and Katie Mae (Havard) Williford in Mobile, AL.
There was a special love between her and her brothers; James E. ""Cotton"", Willie R. ""Buddy"", Henry, and Thomas Williford and her sisters; Betty Jean Williford, Delores Cantin and Evelyn Jackman. Lucky to know and be a part of that love, are her children, Wynona Lindsay Hynes, Dynona Goekler, Stephen A. Glidewell, Evelyn (Lisa) Rich, and Michael J. Glidewell; her grandchildren, Chad, Brian, Stacey, Toni. Shannon, Destiny, and Amy; her great grandchildren, Myles, Landon, Brandon, Zachary, Nicolaus, Kalin, Devin, Cailtlyn, and Jett; and her sons-in-law, Bert D. Lindsay, George Hynes, John Goekler, and Troy W. Rich.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, James M. Glidewell and Joseph Zeloy.
Catherine loved to read and was a lifelong learner; a big dictionary and open encyclopedias were always close, as was a list of books she wanted to read.
After moving to Gulfport in 1957, she worked in the dining rooms at the Broadwater Beach Hotel and the Sea n Sirloin; she attributed her ability to cook fabulous gulf seafood to these jobs.
Catherine graduated from Licensed Practical Nursing School and received her MS license in 1964 and her AL license in 1979. She was vice-president of her class and named ""The Wise One"" by her instructors. She nursed (at MHG for 17 years) in the truest sense of the word; with skill, love, kindness and compassion.
It was at MHG that she met her kindred spirit and best friend for life, Hope Miles. Along with Hope's husband, Richard, they had many good times together with lots of laughter and love.
She delighted in all the love that she had in her life, never taking any for granted; her cup runneth over.
During the last few years, Catherine was lovingly cared for by many people. We thank you.
In her continuing spirit of learning, she generously donated her body to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
There were many special gatherings over the years; family, friends, delicious food and beautiful flowers. That's what she wanted in the end, and that's what we'll do.
RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport served the family.
