Catherine Jewel Pierce Lovell

Catherine Pierce Lovell was born in Chickamauga, GA on 14 January 1926.  She passed peacefully in her home in Gulfport, MS on 16 June 2023 at the age of 97.  A graveside service will be held in Chickamauga, GA.

Catherine graduated from Gordon Lee High School where she was a star basketball player and State Champion.  In later years, she enjoyed being a military wife, traveling, gardening, cooking, and being a girl scout leader.  She was a member of Elizabeth Lee Methodist Church in Chickamauga.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Daniel Lovell, her father and mother Charles and Emma Pierce, and her brothers Henry, Jim Ed, and Frank Pierce and sisters-in-law.  She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy Lovell and John Lee Coleman, grandsons John Joseph and David Thomas Coleman, granddaughter-in-love Alana Lea Gray, and beloved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Hospice.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Elizabeth Lee Methodist Church.
