Obituary

Carrie Lynn Sapia McMullin, 66, of Biloxi, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at her home on September 13, 2026.

Carrie was born in Michigan to Edward and Jessie Sapia. As an Air Force baby, she had the opportunity to see a bit of the world before her family eventually settled in Biloxi, where she would make her home and build a life filled with family, love, laughter, and plenty of personality.

After the birth of her first child, David, Carrie began a career doing what came naturally to her: taking care of others. She worked as a nurse from 1982 to 1999, dedicating years of her life to helping and caring for those around her. One of the more memorable stories from her nursing career involved none other than Ozzy Osbourne. When Ozzy came to town on tour, Carrie had the unforgettable job of giving him a shot in the butt. She was even given free tickets to the show—but left shortly after arriving because she found his outfit absolutely absurd. True to Carrie’s nature, she was never afraid to tell you exactly what she thought.

That unwavering honesty was one of Carrie’s greatest attributes. She had a way of telling it like it was, whether you were ready to hear it or not, and those who knew and loved her wouldn’t have wanted her any other way.

Carrie loved her family deeply. She was endlessly proud of her son, David, and shared a special bond with her daughter, Brandi, who was not only her daughter but her best friend and confidante. Her family was at the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

When Carrie wasn’t spending time with her loving husband of nearly 40 years or making him watch what she affectionately referred to as her “ghost shows,” she could often be found listening to music, taking care of her birds outside, or tending to their crazy dog, Bailey. She found joy in the little things and brought her own unmistakable personality to everything she did.

Carrie was a faithful Catholic throughout her life, and her faith remained with her until the very end. She has now been welcomed home by her father, Edward Sapia; her mother, Jessie Sapia; and her little brother, Mike Sapia. Waiting for her with wagging tails were her beloved dogs, Weinard and Jackson.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of nearly 40 years, Kevin; her son, David, his wife, Carrie, and their son, Alex; and her daughter, Brandi, her husband, Jonathan, and their son, Jayden, along with her beloved granddog, Fantasia.

Carrie’s absence leaves behind a lasting void for everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and carried in the hearts of her family and friends. Though she may no longer be here to tell us exactly how it is, the memories of her laughter, honesty, stubbornness, love, and unmistakable spirit will remain with us always.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Carrie's memory may make a donation to either the South Mississippi Humane Society or St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.
