IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carolyn Virginia
Wink Pitts
September 4, 1928 – January 30, 2026
Carolyn Virginia Wink Pitts, born on September 4, 1928, in Gulfport, Mississippi, and a treasured soul who graced our lives for 97 wonderful years, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, in Pass Christian, Mississippi.
Carolyn was a remarkable woman whose life was dedicated to caring for others. For 25 years, she served as a medical lab technician for Dr. Ben Kitchens in Long Beach MS, where her skills and dedication shone brightly. She was also a Girl Scout leader for 10 years, having a positive impact on the lives of many young girls in Long Beach, MS. Yet, her true legacy goes far beyond her professional achievements; it lies in the kindness she radiated and the warmth she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She was the epitome of generosity and thoughtfulness, often found in her kitchen, crafting delicious homemade jars of muscadine preserves to share with family and friends. Carolyn had a unique ability to make those around her feel at ease with her welcoming spirit and great sense of humor. Her cooking was a gift that not only filled stomachs but also hearts, creating cherished memories for her family.
Family meant everything to Carolyn. She is survived by her loving daughters, Cindy Pitts, Donna Pitts (Veronica Sorgi), and Shelly Pitts Cooper (Wilfred), each carrying a piece of her heart and spirit. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Eryc Cooper (Leigh), Darren Cooper (Mistere) Eva Cooper (Adan Brabo), and Kevin Cooper, who will remember her laughter and warmth. The joy of her life extended even further with her great-grandchildren, August Cooper and Astrid Cooper, who brought immense happiness to her later years. The love she shared with them remains a guiding light for those who continue to carry her memory.
Carolyn is now reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband, Dexter D. Pitts, and a family that included her sisters and brothers Howard Wink, Iris McDaniel, Gene Wink, Ruthy Taylor and Marie Shannon, along with her mother and father, Ruth Pates Wink and Col. Eugene August Wink.
As we celebrate Carolyn's extraordinary life, we remember her as the kindest, most thoughtful person one could ever hope to meet. Her legacy of love, laughter, and culinary delights will forever be cherished and carried on by her family, reminding us that the simplest joys are often the most profound. May she rest in peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
