Carolyn Perkins McCollam Bromaghim

d. July 30, 2025

Gautier, MS

Carolyn Perkins McCollam Bromaghim, 91, of Gautier, Mississippi, passed away on July 30, 2025. A native of Aransas Pass, Texas, she was born to Horace and Elizabeth Kopperl Perkins.

Carolyn’s life was marked by dedication, warmth, and diverse interests. She established a distinguished career as an executive legal secretary, known for her typing speed of 150 words per minute, shorthand proficiency, and keeping her attorneys organized and on track. Her life led her to build a home in many wonderful places, including Texas, Alabama, Colorado, Arkansas, Wisconsin, and Mississippi.

Outside of work, Carolyn was a gifted beaded‑jewelry artisan, often crafting unique pieces for local craft shows. A lifelong animal lover, she always shared her home with at least two beloved cats. In retirement, she generously volunteered at area hospitals, especially in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and Hartford, Wisconsin, and cherished quiet moments reading or preparing holiday meals for her family. Travel also brought her joy, embracing new places and experiences whenever the opportunity arose. She was also involved in her faith community, most recently at All Saints Anglican Church in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, Divine Savior Lutheran Church in Hartford, Wisconsin, and St. Pierre’s Episcopal Church in Gautier.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Donald Hawkins, Charlie Warren, Ronald McCollam, and Weston Bromaghim; and her sister, Patricia Perkins.

She is survived by her children, Patti (Gary) Rupp of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kathleen Carroll of Gautier, and Jeni (Robert) Smith of Pueblo, Colorado; her stepchildren, Jan (Mike) Burr of Muskego, Wisconsin; Jon Bromaghim of Summit, Wisconsin, and Melvin Warren of Marion, Mississippi; her grandchildren, Bradley (Ashley) Duprez of Cañon City, Colorado, and Jessie Perkins Carroll of Gautier; and five great-grandchildren, one grand cat, and four grand dogs.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date at St. Pierre’s Episcopal Church in Gautier, with burial in Waco, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local animal shelter.

The Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd, is serving the Bromaghim family.
